Do you accept insurance?
At Core Health, we are not in any insurance networks. This is due to the fact that insurance companies dictate how, when, and why you receive any (if any) health interventions. This is one of the main reasons why Americans are so sick today. Instead of being bound by insurance companies’ red tape , we spend time with patients, run pertinent lab tests, and provide essential care in order to get you healthy and keep you healthy. In the event that you would like to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, we can provide you with a superbill document, which will have the necessary coding. Core Health is a cash-based practice, meaning that we accept all credit cards, cash, and checks at time of service. Core Health also accepts Care Credit, FSA, and HSA cards.

What is a New Patient Consultation like?
The New Patient Consultation starts when you receive your paperwork. It is important that you fill out the paperwork in its entirety, and ideally email back to info@corehealthstl.com prior to your first appointment. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted while Dr. Gerlach finishes reviewing your paperwork, if needed. Then, you will sit with Dr. Gerlach for up to 1 hour, discussing your health history, health challenges, and goals moving forward. At the end of the consultation, Dr. Gerlach will go over what he recommends (lab testing, supplements, dietary and lifestyle changes) with the information that he has.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Prior to your appointment, be sure to gather all pertinent health information and previous labs. You will also need to complete your New Patient Paperwork before seeing Dr. Gerlach. Ideally email your paperwork and labs to info@corehealthstl.com.
How much will lab testing cost?
During the New Patient Consultation, Dr. Gerlach may recommend that you perform certain tests (take home or in a lab). These tests can range anywhere from $50-$1500. Types and amount of lab testing depends on your health situation and goals.
If I have previous labs, should I bring them with me?
Yes. If you have previous lab testing performed, please bring that to your first appointment or email to info@corehealthstl.com prior.
What happens at the first follow-up appointment?
After your New Patient Consultation, Dr. Gerlach may recommend labs, dietary changes, or supplements. The following appointment is when Dr. Gerlach will go over lab results and present a comprehensive treatment plan. If Dr. Gerlach recommends supplements, you will be able to purchase them on this day in the office or over the phone.
Why doesn’t my current doctor run the same tests you do?
Few doctors have the proper training and experience to run and interpret Functional Medicine lab tests. Consider Functional Lab testing as a way to view the different body system and how they interact with one another.
How is functional medicine different than conventional medicine?
While conventional medicine focuses on covering up symptoms, functional medicine attempts to find and fix root cause health ailments. This allows patients to finally address chronic conditions and improve their health naturally.
